After her role as coordinating lead author for the IPBES Invasive Alien Species Assessment, Vigdis Vandvik will now contribute to the upcoming seventh IPCC report and be co-responsible for a chapter on how climate change affects biodiversity, ecosystems and ecosystem services on land and in freshwater. The Coordinating Lead Authorship will be shared with Denis J. Sonwa from the World Resources Institute in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
We will look at effects, vulnerability, resilience, and feedbacks to the climate system and nature. We will also look at the role of nature in climate adaptation and explore developments in nature under different future scenarios. This is a formidable task, but also important and exciting work, and I am looking forward to it!”, writes Vandvik.
